Artist and educator Theresa Heinrichs has spent a lifetime exploring the possibilities of color, texture and creative expression.
From an early fascination with paintings and sculpture to thirty-five years as an art educator, Theresa’s journey has been shaped by curiosity, teaching,
travel and an enduring belief that creativity belongs to everyone. Her distinctive painting style grew from her early love of sculpture, combining molding paste, palette knives, and vibrant color to create richly textured works that seem to change with the light.
Her travels brought her closer to artists who profoundly influenced her, including Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, while decades of teaching revealed the remarkable ways art can bring joy, confidence, and meaning into people’s lives.
A Life in Texture and Color grew from a series of filmed conversations with Theresa in her Okanagan Landing studio. Written by Lorenz Plourde, the book preserves Theresa’s memories, artistic process, influences, and philosophy in her own spirit and voice—creating a lasting portrait of an artist whose journey is still evolving.
