"I am a self-taught artist from Saskatchewan. As a child I always found I had a desire to doodle and would often do so to pass the time and ease boredom. Most of my school assignments were covered in patterns and designs.
I draw most of my inspiration from tribal art as well as tattoos. My aim is to express ideas that are abstract in nature but reflect common struggles and dilemmas. Painting is also an interest for me. It has been fun and exciting working with a new medium and incorporating acrylics into my process."
Stay tuned for Jimmy's process art video coming soon and in the meantime you can learn more about Jimmy at https://www.instagram.com/_jim.i.am/
This is the first time I used acrylic paint with ink pens. It started as an experiment and then turned into much more. This image is about pain and the power it can bring.
This image came to me at a time in my life when I felt very lost. I knew that there were forces in my life that were holding me up, but also influences that were dragging me down. There are always things that drag a person sideways as well.
An image that came to me at the end of a serious relationship. The two flames being split are a representation of two people going separate ways. One masculine and one feminine. The complexity in the middle is the mess that lies in between.
A bright colorful mess. An intricate display of complexity. This is an explosion of all things kept inside. The patterns and designs are habits and character. The programming we have learned and the layers we shield ourselves with. There is a point where things boil over, when all of our coping mechanisms fail and we can't bottle it up anymore.
